Recap: Team Keep Pulling at the 2018 Florida Weightlifting State Championships!

This past weekend, Team Keep Pulling competed at the 2018 Florida State Championships in Vero Beach, FL. Out of 26 lifters on our team who qualified for this event, 14 were able to make the trip to compete! It was an amazing weekend for everyone and congratulations to everyone who made this event happen!

Here are some team stats from this past weekend, but make sure to scroll down for a full recap of everyone!

Out of 14 competitors, we had:

  • Three 6 for 6 performances
  • 24 personal records set
  • 6 podium finishes (5 silver, 1 bronze)
  • 10 top-five finishes
  • 13 top-ten finishes
  • 80% of lifts made (67 out of 84 attempts)

1: Peter Lee, Senior -61KG

Peter finished 5th place in the state in his division — He went 5 for 6 ending with a 73KG snatch and a 93KG clean and jerk to tie his best competition total of 166KG. He barely missed his third CJ which would have been a 2KG competition PR and a 5KG PR total! Congratulations, Peter!


2: Sean Spraggins, Senior -73KG

Sean finished 4th place overall in his division, and 3rd place in the clean & jerk — he went 5 for 6 ending with a 100KG snatch (+4KG meet PR) and a 132KG clean and jerk (+2KG meet PR) for a 6KG meet PR total of 232KG! We will be chasing down the AO finals total within the next few months! Well done, Sean!


3: Christina Medina, Junior -64KG

Christina finished 3rd place overall in her division! She went 5 for 6 ending with a 57KG snatch (+3KG meet PR)  and a 74KG clean & jerk (+1KG meet PR) for a +4KG meet PR total of 131KG! Your Junior Nationals total is right around the corner! Vamos!


4: Delaney Willingham, Junior -71KG

Delaney finished 2nd place overall in her division! She went 5 for 6 ending with a 60KG snatch (+10KG meet PR)  and a 77KG clean & jerk (+7KG meet PR) for a +17KG (yes, SEVENTEEN KG) meet PR total of 137KG! Junior Nationals is coming soon!!!!


5: Jamie Korges, Senior -55KG

Jamie finished 4th place overall in her division ending with a 54KG snatch and a 76KG clean & jerk for a 130KG total! Way to go!!!!


6: Patrick Costello, Master -89KG

Patrick finished 2nd place overall in his division ending with a 96KG snatch and a 112KG clean & jerk for a 208KG total! He PRd his step count by a few thousand steps while coaching our 14 athletes all weekend!


7: Jack Harris, Master -96KG

Jack finished 3rd place overall in his division! He went 6 for 6 ending with an 88KG snatch (+2KG meet PR)  and a 111KG clean & jerk (+3KG meet PR) for a +5KG meet PR total of 199KG! Well done, sir!


8: Elizabeth Klauka, Senior -64KG

Liz finished 7th overall in her division going 3 for 6 and ending with a 63KG snatch and a 78KG clean & jerk for a 141KG total! She lifted in her 4th consecutive state championships in between coaching the team, running cards/announcing, and being team mom! Congrats!!!


9: Dayana Calvo, Senior -64KG

Dayana finished 5th overall in her division! She went 4 for 6 and ended with a 65KG snatch and an 83KG clean & jerk for a 148KG total! Congrats on your first state championships!


10: Arielle Murray, Senior -64KG

Arielle finished 2nd overall in her division! She went 6 for 6 and ended with a 72KG snatch (+1KG meet PR) and a 95KG clean & jerk (+5KG meet PR) for an all time +4KG PR total of 167KG! AO Finals is just around the corner right behind Nationals!


11: Benjy Neptune, Senior -81KG

Benjy finished 11th overall in his division! He went 4 for 6 and ended with a 93KG snatch and a 115KG clean & jerk (+3KG meet PR) for a total of 208KG! Nicely done!!!!


12: Hans Hoffman, Senior -81KG

Hans finished 9th overall in his division! He went 6 for 6 and ended with a 96KG snatch (+4KG meet PR) and a 117KG clean & jerk (+2KG meet PR) for an all time +6KG PR total of 213KG!! Gehen wir!!!!

 


13: Ryan Stemme, Senior -89KG

Ryan finished 3rd overall in his division and 3rd in the clean & jerk! He went 5 for 6 and ended with a 100KG snatch and a 143KG clean & jerk (+3KG meet PR) for an all time +8KG PR total of 243KG! Nicely done!!!!


14: Leo Baez, Senior +109KG

Leo finished 7th overall in his division! He went 4 for 6 and ended with a 110KG snatch and a 141KG clean & jerk for a total of 251KG! We are on our way back! NICE JOB!
